SLUIS, party of 4

I don’t even know where to start with this post because I’m about to flippin’ explode with news! You know when you buy a Christmas present for your best friend and you have to wait weeeeeks before you can give it to them and you’re just practically dying inside? Well, that’s just about how I feel right now! I was planning on waiting to share some news with you until a few more weeks but… I just can’t wait. I’m not good at waiting, at all. :-)  So, here’s the fun news…..

Meet Lennon. Lennon, meet world.

Well, my husband has been dying for a dog for years now and I was a little “anti- dog” up to now because I knew I’d be the one taking care of it… all the time. My little lady {Lyla} is 18 months and is an animal lover galore though so between hubs and Lyla, I gave in, folks. We searched around at Uncle Bills pet shop and researched puppies online but we ended up falling in love with a little boxer mix at the Humane Society of Indianapolis! She was giving us those “puppy dog eyes” aaaand we caved. I want to introduce you to our newest addition to the family! She is currently three months old, FULL of life and loves to chew… everything!

I love the beautiful brindle color that she has and those brown puppy dog eyes. <3

I knew you’d love her just as much as we do so I had to share! Now any suggestions on the teething part? She’s not a huge fan of her bones. {{Help!}}

Have a great day! :-)

The relationship you seek in just one week. {7 tips}

Heads up to all of you… This post is for all the sappy, hopeless romantics out there! Well, not exactly but it is mushier than my norm.

June 18th of this year marked 2 years of marriage with my best friend and love of my life! All in all we have been together for 5 years and I must say it has FLOOOWN by with many happy and fun memories! As many of you know though, after a while you can become “comfortable” with one another and lose a bit of the ol’ spark you once had. Life happens and happens fast! Before you know it you realize you haven’t been devoting as much time, effort and prayer {the most important }as you should have been to your marriage. Although relationships can function off of small effort it’s obviously not healthy and not running at max potential. I was feeling like it was time for me to kick it into high gear, put some elbow grease into it and shape up all my relationships around me {hence the blog post ;-) }. I got to researching and as I came across prettifuldesigns.blogspot.com blog I was intrigued by her tips. She named each day of the week with a way of WOW-ing your spouse! What a great reminder! I decided to change some of the cute tips to make it more meaningful to me and wanted to blog about it to keep {mostly to keep me motivated to stickin’ with it ;-) }.

Savory Sunday: The way to a mans heart is definitely through food and many times a woman’s too {if you’re anything like me} so devote your Sunday to whipping up a tasty treat and/or buy their fav sweets and you’re sure to make them pleased! If you’re at a loss for what to make, check out The Sweetest Kitchen blog for great dessert recipes!

Massage Monday: Okay folks, who doesn’t like a massage?! In our house a good massage is next to the Bible. Maybe a little dramatic but after a stressful day, isn’t it great to wind down by getting a relaxing massage AND even better… from your lover. ;-) {Check out The Nest blog for massage tips.}

Thank You Tuesday:  Although the title doesn’t sound all that exciting, this one goes a loooong way. My love language is “words of affirmation” so for me to hear a simple “thank you for doing the laundry” or “thank you for being a good mommy” is like giving me a million dollars. Thankfulness and gratitude express respect.

WOW them Wednesday:Do whatever is romantic to your partner {even if it is out of your comfort zone}! If you’re unsure of what they like, just ask them.

Touchy Thursday: This seems like it should come natural right? It doesn’t always {especially after kids come along}. Once you’ve been in a steady relationship for a while, touching isn’t always as prominent as it once was. Devote this day to expressing your feelings through way of touch.

Fun Friday: Make Friday’s date night! You can either go out OR stay home. If possible, get a babysitter but if unable to then have a fun “family friendly” night. Push yourself to do something out of the ordinary and just have fun with your spouse. :) Stay at Home Susie has “77 Super Fun Date Ideas”

Sweet nothings Saturday: All day long tell them “sweet nothings” through notes, email, texting or just verbally. I’m an “old soul” and enjoy handwriting notes to my husband. Remember it doesn’t have to be a book, just remind them of your favorite traits about them, compliment them, or spice it up and give them something to look forward to later. ;-)

Once you’ve put these actions to test for a week you’re sure to feel more of a connection/love towards your spouse. Your actions towards your spouse will naturally make them want to be more loving towards you as well! Keep in mind… just have fun!
