MEMO BOARD DIY

photo

I was recently reading one of the newest posts via lemondroplife.com and I saw where she had made over a basic cork board into a fun memo board to store all of her bloggy ideas. I instantly fell in love with how simple yet fun this project was! I was actually so inspired, I went out that same day and purchased my own cork board and got right to work! ;-) I hope all of you enjoy making this project as much as I did.

Items Needed:

  • Cork Board {any size}
  • Painters Tape
  • Spray Paint

How To:

1. I started by putting all four pieces of the cork board side by side and taping off the desired design with painters tape. {Find the design lemondroplife.com used HERE.}

2. Then I painted over the tape using the spray paint as seen below. {I used the one to prevent rust because it has a grittier texture that I found works great on the cork board. Regular spray paint is fine though!}

3. Once it was completely dry, I pulled off the tape to find nice crisp, clean lines! Woo-hoo!

4. Now it was time to display it! The cork board actually comes with mounting tape so they make it easy-peasy to pop onto the wall!

I love the pizzazz it adds AND it’s great to post all of my bloggy ideas onto! :-)

Have a good day!

DIY Towel Rack {{From Pallets}}

“Cheers to the freakin’ weekend…”

Whew, it’s the end of the week! {Sigh. of. relief.} My little fam and I went to a cookout this evening and are going to another tomorrow! {You can never have enough cookout food right?!} It should be an exciting weekend full of lots of things to do but for now I’m soaking up the silence. Lounging in the PJ’s, snuggled up to a crochet blanket, sippin’ some good ol’ hot chocolate {just burnt the taste buds -_-} and watching HGTV while everyone else in the house is snooooozing it up.

Well, I’ve been following along with one of my fav bloggers {Dacia @ Lemondroplife.com} while she is fixing up her guest bathroom and it’s motivated me to give a little life to OUR bathroom as well! I decided to go to Pinterest {best place for a little inspiration no doubt} and I found tons of nifty things you can do with wood pallets. We have 3 of them sitting in our back yard right now that we got for FREE {I love the sound of that word ;-) } so of course I’m dying to use them for projects. Hubs suggested that we create a magazine/towel rack to spice up our bathroom and I was all in! He used the saw and I stained the wood and VOILA …we had the perfect addition to the start of our mini bathroom makeover.

Here’s the tutorial…

1.}} Lay your wood pallet upside down.

2.}} With your saw cut directly next to the center wood beam of the pallet.

{{Excuse the fact that were using a hand saw. *rolls eyes* We forgot our electric one at my in-laws house.}}

3.}} Continue to saw straight down, following the center beam.

4.}} Using the wood that is still left over from the OTHER HALF of the pallet, take the nails off of the front beam.

5.}} Take the beam you just took off the front and nail it to the bottom of your “towel rack”.

6.}} Now to the good part… sand down all of the rough areas.

7.}} Stain the wood.

{{I used the stain color “English Chestnut” for mine.}}

8.}} Add on your knobs/hooks.

{{I purchased mine at Hobby Lobby for 50% off! -Holla-}

9.}} Hang it up, add a few of your magazines aaaaaand…you. are. done!

What do you think?!?!

I <3 the dark wood stain!

Well, onto project #2 for the bathroom… the cabinet makeover!! {Wish me luck! I’ll need it ;-) }

Have a GREAT weekend!

Prime Vintage

It’s a nice {more like} beautiful Saturday! Lovin’ the weather in the 80′s {feels like summerrrr!}

Over the course of this week we {Hubs & I} have done quite a few projects and I thought I would share …just one {for now}! ;)

About seven months ago I purchased an old vintage stereo. It was not a gem to look at or anything but I saw potential and for $20 well, I just had to buy it! {Unfortunately I didn’t take a picture. It was way before I started my blog. It was all the brown color you see on the front.} Jake & I decided to paint it this coral color but it was… a fail. Neither of us were blown away by the look of it. We attempted to do a second makeover {painted it white and beat up the edges to look “antique-ish”}.Image

We liked it but it was a little simple for us. Onto the third makeover {I know, we are crazy}….

I wanted Chevron on the top to add a little pizazz sooo I measured out the width of how far apart I wanted the Chevron to be and taped that bad boy out!

I kept the furniture white and painted over the tape with black. I let it dry {which seemed to be an eternity long wait} and pulled off the tape.

A couple more things were still in need for the look we desired. I ripped out that fabric covering the speakers and painted it black inside and painted the nobs black for a bold look. Here is the final product….DUN-DUN-DUN….

YES YES YES! I couldn’t be happier! A cheap {and fun} makeover.

***{Excuse our DVD player’s under the furniture. We have to get a shelf installed under our TV to hold them :) }***

Would you ever consider doing a project like this?
