Chalkboard Sign

Good morning! :)

It’s a bitter cold morning here in central Indiana. I’m cuddled up under a blanket, sippin’ on some nice soothing chocolate milk {kid at heart} and listening to the sounds of nature. I’m madly in love {<–can we say dramatic} with the changing of the seasons!

Recently, I was working on a little “display” outside my front door. I did have chairs sitting out for Summer but I decided to change it up. I wanted people to get a welcoming/inviting vibe when they came to our front door so I chose to do a more “rustic” setting. Typically everyone associates “rustic” with cozy {or at least I do}. So here it is…

I made this little chalkboard from an old pan {that reeeeally needed to be tossed out}. It only took three EASY steps…

1}} Scrubbed it down thoroughly

2}} Put chalkboard paint in the center {leaving the edges to be seen}

3}} Hung it up with burlap! {easy-peasy right?}

I’m that typical dorky housewife that gets PA-thetically excited to decorate for each season/occasion! {lol} I can’t wait to do one in our little garden {more like grave yard for plants}. :)

Enjoy your day!

DIY Burlap Wreath {{using a wire hanger}}

Happy Friday!

I’m amped for this weekend for all the normal reasons but one of the main reasons being my sis-in-law and I will be going to the Country Living Fair! I wasn’t able to go last year so now I’m anxioussss! I’ll be sure to take lots of pictures and share them with you all. {of course :-) }

So as you know Fall is overtaking my home and I couldn’t be more in love with it. {I admit I do rush the holidays/seasons slightly uh, hum..a lot. guilty.as.charged.} In light of Fall, I was wanting to make a wreath for my front door. I try to make one for every season and I felt like a burlap wreath was the perrrrfect choice for Fall! I didn’t have any styrofoam wreaths on hand and it was late at night when I made this {only time alone…when everyone is snoozin ;-) } so I decided to try something new. I used a hanger and to my surprise…. it worked perfect!

Okay, so here’s the tidbits:

YOU NEED:

Burlap Fabric {I had approximately 1 yard}

Wire Hanger

Scissors

Measuring Tape

Ribbon {optional}

HOW TO:

FIRST, I took an old wire hanger I found and unraveled it and shaped it into a circle {leaving the top open}.

SECOND, I cut TWELVE  2 in x 6 in strips out of the burlap fabric. {Keep in mind you can do more or less depending on how full you would like it.}

THIRD, I folded my strips into fours and slid each one on the hanger until it was full.

{{half way there!}}

FOURTH, twist the ends of the hanger together making your circle complete.

{{optional}} FIFTH, I added a ribbon on mine to make it even cozier.

SIXTH, hang it! :)

Love it! It makes for the perfect Fall wreath.

Enjoy your weekend!
