Kiddy Corner

Ah, I’ve missed you guys!!! I’m stoked I finally have a moment to reconnect with all of you DIY-ers! :) It seems we have been in full speed for weeks now and I love it but it’s wonderful to get back into my little bloggy world.

Hubs, baby and I recently visited the IMA {Indianapolis Museum of Art}. It is one of my favorite places to go! Besides all of the insaaaane creativity these people display in their art, it is one of the most INSPIRING and PEACEFUL places to hike/walk/relax/picnic {you get the point}. I went a little crazy with taking nature pics {hubs was wayyy over it :-D } but I wanted to share some with you spectacular peeps so you can experience it too!

{Oops, how did that get in there :-D -guilty-}

Well, well, well…where to start?! I have been working on quite a few projects but I can’t seem to put enough focus onto one project to finish it {ughhh}. I keep bouncy around starting projects but leaving them… unfinished. This is totally out of my character so it’s driving me crazy but I can’t stop myself! LOL. I was rackin’ my brain of which project I should share first..”the unfinished deck? nah”, “the unfinished bohemian room? not yet”, “or our helpless laundry room that is screaming MAKEOVER”. This is what I came up with. This one is simple but cute. I did this for my little girls room {needless to say she is too young to appreciate it yet BUT by golly, she’ll will LOVE it one day….even if it is years from now ;-) }.

I draped some furry fabric {because anything furry = everything cozier} over a tension rod to create a little nook. Once it was draped I nailed the fabric underneath and cut the center into two pieces to make it look like curtains. Last, I tied ribbons around the sides to complete it, threw in a couple pillows and toys and BOOM ->kiddy corner… accomplished. What kid doesn’t love their very own hiding spot? One day...yes, one day {probably many years from now} my child will love me for this :) .

Prime Vintage

It’s a nice {more like} beautiful Saturday! Lovin’ the weather in the 80′s {feels like summerrrr!}

Over the course of this week we {Hubs & I} have done quite a few projects and I thought I would share …just one {for now}! ;)

About seven months ago I purchased an old vintage stereo. It was not a gem to look at or anything but I saw potential and for $20 well, I just had to buy it! {Unfortunately I didn’t take a picture. It was way before I started my blog. It was all the brown color you see on the front.} Jake & I decided to paint it this coral color but it was… a fail. Neither of us were blown away by the look of it. We attempted to do a second makeover {painted it white and beat up the edges to look “antique-ish”}.Image

We liked it but it was a little simple for us. Onto the third makeover {I know, we are crazy}….

I wanted Chevron on the top to add a little pizazz sooo I measured out the width of how far apart I wanted the Chevron to be and taped that bad boy out!

I kept the furniture white and painted over the tape with black. I let it dry {which seemed to be an eternity long wait} and pulled off the tape.

A couple more things were still in need for the look we desired. I ripped out that fabric covering the speakers and painted it black inside and painted the nobs black for a bold look. Here is the final product….DUN-DUN-DUN….

YES YES YES! I couldn’t be happier! A cheap {and fun} makeover.

***{Excuse our DVD player’s under the furniture. We have to get a shelf installed under our TV to hold them :) }***

Would you ever consider doing a project like this?
